Tulips

I mentioned painting the tulip fields from Seattle in my last post, and I did it!
Hooray for following through.

What a joy it was to churn something out successfully with a medium I haven’t used in the last 5 years. Still got it baby! You bet these craft paints are so old they are degraded and probably carcinogenic.

Started this with the background first, headed to foreground. I held on to the concept that proximal objects are darker than the distal ones. The process was a perfect balance of mindlessness and detail. Low technicality, but required thoughtfulness with placement and color. Paramore at Bonnaroo and Green Day’s Bullet in a Bible on in the background.

To use up the rest of the paint, I played around with some simple stroke tulips- Bob Ross style. One corner of the brush in white, the other corner in a color. They are ok imo.

↜ Inspo pic ↝ I think I caught the likeness!

So glad I pushed myself to do this after a full day of working on mosaics. Creative battery well spent!

Until next time.
